[WARNING: i am being a hypocrite here but who cares it is for a good cause. Enjoy reading. :)]
how many times do we check our Facebook in a day??
-a million plus one times.
how many of us tweet to our favourite celeb on an hourly basis with a hope that some or the day he/she will reply??
-90% of us.
how many of us upload our day to day activities on Instagram??
-who doesn't..!
my point being here is that we have attached ourselves so much to these social networking sites that they have become the part and parcel of our lives. Right from our outfits to our meals, everything is updated on these sites. its like you don't have to call someone to know their location. simply just log in and check their profile and there you go. Gone are the days when people would write to each other. gone are the days when people would actually meet in person. 21st century has transformed completely. E-mails have replaced letters and Skype is the new hangout.
All this while, social media has been proven an advantage to us. it has allowed us to speak our mind (i am implying it in a good sense.) it has not only united us but has also made us rise against the things which are WRONG! we are so well-connected that together we have been happy and together we've wept. When did the 21st century undergo such a drastic transition?! when did every soul on this earth became so active on these sites?? From where did this SOCIAL KEEDA sneaked upon us?!
These questions might go unanswered again because all of us stand clueless. But i have a major question on my mind. HAS SOCIAL MEDIA SPOILT US? Have they taken us to such a point that there is no coming back?! have we totally surrendered ourselves?? No Doubt they have given a DEFINITE voice to our thoughts but have we drowned ourselves so deep that there is nobody to save us...?
As every coin has two sides, this has its flip side too. it has caused so many cyber crimes. such crimes which can completely change the future of the victim. other than crimes, teenagers have increased their virtual visits to porn sites. they have been glued to their laptops and mobiles that these people don't log out at all. my personal experience has the same thing to preach. Even if i log in at 4 in the afternoon or 4 in the morning, i'll at least find 3 out of 5 people online. so this is the scenario.
What is the possible solution to it. i see 'self-control' as the only possible way out of this mess. The urge should come from within.
I am not asking you to become 'anti-social'. you should have the best of both the worlds- the real as well as the virtual one.
So look up from your phone, shut down that display. Its time to get back to the real world.
Toodles!
