A few weeks back I came across an article in BUSINESS STANDARD. It talked about a very young CEO nirav tolia and his new idea.
It is quite thinkable that we have a social networking site for news that is twitter, for managing professional identities that is LinkedIn and for friends and interests that is Facebook. But it is amusing to hear about a social networking site to know your “NEIGHBOURHOOD” better. The news has wowed me. The techie-world is advancing at a gratifying speed.

Previously, the other sites were like
spellbinders. They had become the part and parcel of our life. Many people
started spending hours and hours online and thus becoming asocial. They were
certainly aware about the happenings of the world but were clueless about what
took place in the little world outside their home.
As there is a key to every lock, every
problem also has a solution.
A San-Francisco based start-up led by Nirav
Tolia and 6 other founders seek to give the term “social media” real meaning.
The company NEXTDOOR wants its user to get to know their neighbors by....
spending time online!
Nextdoor is offered as a platform for
neighbors to communicate with each other about everything. The neighbors can
exchange referrals on local business, buy and sell items or even alert each
other about illness or crime in the area.
It has not only proven beneficial for
America but has expanded its horizons in numerous countries all over the world.
But its magic hasn’t reached India yet.
This company has touched the lives of
million people and has given a platform for the US local social networking to come
up. I guess we have transformed to a new
era where neighborhood has gone virtual.
